Patient was still swollen, swelling takes at least one year to go down. Swelling can fluctuate one from side to the other causing the nose to look a little uneven. Patient sent a picture one year later and her nose was not uneven but her head may have been slightly tilted in the picture causing it to look a little uneven.

Patient has very thick Indian skin and is shown only 3 months after rhinoplasty. It usually takes 1 year and even longer in thick skin patients to achieve the final result, especially in the tip. The Indian female ’s postoperative photographs are shown 3 months after rhinoplasty and her tip will continue to become more refined. Dr. Rizk injects kenalog to decrease swelling in the tip of thick skinned ethnic rhinoplasty patients. Dr. Rizk will update with followup pictures closer to a year.

No, the image on makemeheal was a much earlier post-surgery picture. Dr. Rizk shows only actual postoperative pictures. Patient also had a secondary procedure to further reduce her nostrils even further and kenalog injections to reduce her swelling.

Is this photoshopped? The nose this lady had on “makemeheal” looks ALOT wider than this.

The micro-powered diamond sander is used both on the dorsum and the grafts. The reason it works well is two-fold:
1. The dorsum has both bone and cartilage which it works on both, particularly the connecting part in the middle of the bridge. The old technique requires a rasp for bone and a knife for cartilage-resulting in a disconnected connecting segment.
2. The cartilage grafts tend to have sharp edges if sculpted with the knife, and that does not occur with Dr. Rizk’s specialized sanding-powered tools.

what an absolutely beautiful result! I love how smooth the sides of this patient’s dorsum is on frontal view. Does Dr Rizk use his micropowered instruments to do this type of “smoothing” on the sides of the dorsum?

This change fits this person’s face well, and is in line with Dr. Rizk’s aesthetic line of a natural look. Sometimes patients request a more defined tip, even if it looks slightly unnatural. Dr. Rizk attempts to satisfy the patient wishes without compromising his natural aesthetic judgment of a natural result and this is one of the most difficult aspects of rhinoplasty. That being said, no two noses are the same and sometimes the way the nose heals may not be predictable 100percent. In looking at patient pictures on websites, you need to look at all pictures. Dr. Rizk shows many different types of noses-african american, white, asian, middle eastern, white, etc and not all heal in the perfect way but Dr. Rizk posts it anyway, even if its not a 100 percent perfect because this is the nature of rhinoplasty and to be an honest surgeon, it is important to show many different noses and results.

I really like this change. I’m curious, is the difference between this change and the one for the 48 year old African American woman above more the patients preference or something else? This looks better to me, more natural, less pinched and obviously worked on. I’d like the same effect on my nose.

Wow, she looks great. Small changes like adding a chin, can make huge differences! I have a similar case, I need to look into it!
